Ah, Whitworth, UNF...  Back when I was maintaining my own cars (autos) I 
had amassed a large collection of spanners (wrenches) over time; heck, 
even the size of the opening went by different gauges such as AF etc.

To this day I can still remember that a 1/2" crescent (both open and ring) 
was needed to undo the bell housing to get to the clutch plate (a rite of 
passage in those days)A.
