Is it possible the left end frame is slightly
distorted or not mounted exactly right ?
My first step would be with motor off and
loop supply on (mark) and keyboard in series
with loop ... slowly turn the motor (in proper
direction, of course!), press S on keyboard,
continue turning the motor slowly ... the keyboard
should key the loop and since it is running off the
same motor pinion as the tu main shaft, the sel.
magnet should respond to each bit of the S code
as it is keyed by the keyboard. When it gets to
the time for the type bar to be slammed on the
platen, go more slowly and watch / feel / move by
hand the S typebar ... see if it is binding somewhere
or being pushed off true by something. This slow-mo
won't analyze 'momentum' problems, but it might give
a lead on alignment or binding problems.

Not really. the S is still not printing as solidly
as all the other letters, though after '8' it does
print a bit better. Something is awry with the
S typebar, imo.
