Selective calling. It also uses the zero code bar. I can never
remember the names of the conditions. But basically receiving the CDC
code can put you in print. Zero code bar then can be positioned to
blind the printer to any future CDCs. Then at the end of the message
you get a code that puts you into non-print, suppressed and back into
being able to decoded CDCs.
I have printers with the solenoid and without. In all cases the little
arm is down into the slot. I think the solenoid to allow monitoring the
line irregardless of stunt box codes.
There's 3 or 4 docs about the stunt box that goes into all the nuances.
With 42 slots the combinations are endless (almost, you have to use
some of them to do things like CR, LF, and FIGS-LTRS shift)
