[GreenKeys] Suppression - M28 printers

I recently unearthed a 28 typing unit with a solenoid on the left end for
print suppression. Not something I had run across before.
Having never paid any attention to the SUPP code bar, I took a look at some
other units and found the following other variants-
SUP code bar pulled to left by spring tension
SUP code bar pinned to right (by small lever fitting into code bar notches)
SUP code bar with linkage for solenoid but pinned to right (by small lever
fitting into code bar notch)

The spring unit types OK no matter if is left or right…hmmm.???

So what’s the story on the suppression solenoid - what was it used for?

Cheers
