[GreenKeys] Model 14 restoration

There it is, the final fix - the end of line indicator assembly cleaned and installed.
And it's working :-) :-) :-)

I fixed and restored quite a few machines the last 4-5 years, but this particular assembly was my most difficult task so far. The area/space was super tight and my sausage fingers - well, I'm pretty sure you can imagine.

One good machine made out of three - actually four because the keycaps (including arms) came from an old WU teleprinter 102. Not original, but very nice looking keycaps.

Too bad that I don't have the end of tape bell assembly - hint hint !!!
Well, just keep an eye on the tape roll while you're playing, right?

Now I have to do some deep cleaning, lubricating, definitely some cosmetic work and maybe rewire the entire machine (the wires are very old and in some areas very brittle).

Two pics attached !

Thanks again for all your help,
you guys are awesome !!!!!

Haaa, one of the two parts machines actually had the worm gear mechanism for the end of line indicator light.
I just couldn't see it because is was totally covered up with 50+ year old, dirty, almost black, hardened grease. Actually, that old grease was a good corosion protector - other parts of that particular machine are totally roached. I slowly and carefully had to scrape that old gunk off the entire assembly with different tipped screwdrivers. It took the entire day and the assembly is soaking in "Simple Green" now for the next 24 hours or so before I can evaluate the condition - but it's looking good so far.
I keep you guys updated.

But the end of tape bell assembly is definitely missing except the actual bell. If somebody has a spare assembly, I like to be the new owner, user and abuser - haha.

The cover/housing incl. the document holder and the tape holder are free of dents but definitely in need of a light sand blasting and powder coating or spray paint. The sound installation and glass needs to be replaced.
I may build a new cover out of acrylic - not so important right now.

Pretty sure it will be an awesome machine in a month or two.

And thanks again for all your advice and information, links to manuals and bulletins, drawings and pictures.

Forget to ask something else - guess I'm getting old too, or should I say older 🥴.

But first a huge THANK YOU for all the responses I received !!!

And here is my question:
The "end of line indicator" is a small light located on the right side of the keyboard, activated by what?
There must be a mechanical counter of some sort which activates a momentary switch for the light, right?
I have three of the model 14's (one I'm working on and two for parts) but can't find a counting assembly on any.

Any help and pictures of course are highly appreciated.
The low paper tape bell notification is important, but not as much as the end of line indicator.

Looking at the manual and a wiring diagram, I will hazard a few answers -
1) The capacitor with both leads to ground is used when a governed motor is installed. Not needed for the synchronous motor.
2) As someone remembered the bell on the keyboard base indicates Tape Out
You may find a helpful schematic here -

Gentlemen,

I'm in the process to restore a model 14 printing perforator (KSR) and have a couple of questions.

There is a working bell located on the left side of the printer and another one located on the right side in the far back on the keyboard. That particular one doesn't have a hammer, guess the entire bell assembly is missing. On the backside of that bell is a small, flat and square (¾x¾") THING - looks like a capacitor and both wires are connected/grounded to the base of the keyboard via one tiny screw.

1. why is there a second bell ?
2. how was this bell activated ?
3. is that little square box really a capacitor and why is it there ?

Four pictures are attached.

Please forgive my amateur questions, I don't have a manual and couldn't find one online.
