With "standard" tones, the radio is set to 14.086 MHz LSB. Details are at
https://www.w6iwi.org/rtty/ .

The Teletype Clock is something! I did something like that in the early
1970s, but using 8 bit parallel load serial out shift registers. I got
parallel BCD time from a digital clock, used a diode matrix to convert BCD
to Baudot, then shift it out. This was before I discovered the AY-5-1013
UART. this would log commercials in radio stations to a model 15. An
XR2211 would detect a 3.5 kHz tone on the cue track of the tape cartridge,
triggering CR LF LTRS, the time, and a space. The tone would then be FSK
keyed with the information about the commercial.

Putting the time on CQ is a good idea. I have started hand keying the time
(ie, CR LF FIGS 1900 LTRS Z CR LF LTRS), then run the tape.
