1) A cord connected only to equipment (printer, TD, reperf, etc.) has no
voltage on it.
2) A cord connected only to a loop has voltage and also opens the loop.
Therefore -
Just learn to always unplug the cord from the loop jack first, then from
the equipment. It's like learning to turn the autostart printer off before
trying to change the ribbon......

If you have little kids, that's different - put the patch panel or loop
power switch 6 ft up on the wall or something.
