Hi group
As far as I know, IPA (not the beer though) is the best way to remove any
oil and fat-deposits.

IPA is Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol), get hold of some 99% and spray it
over the whole unit (it should be soaking wet)
Let it drip of, and redo until the unit is completly clean.
Blow it clean with compressed air (be gentle though, low pressure, so you
dont blow away the springs).
IPA Does not affect electrical wiring or any electrical equipment, it usally
is the main component in contact-spray.
It allso disolves some oxides as well.
After tha you can re-lubricate it with a proper lubrication
