Only Frederick gear I ever saw was at NGR, Nea Makri in Greece, 1966. Think
it was Baudot/Morse converter. Way before personal computers.. how slick was
that....punch a TTY tape and voila...out comes cw! ... Ha!

I felt the same way when I asked how it was possible that platoon level voice encryption was fielded right around that time and was told that several digital ICs were available by that year. Asking what the signal sounded like w/o decryption, I was told the signal was white noise like shot noise with a beep preceeding and following the body of the signal. Actually, to be completely accurrate, OM just held down the "S" key for a couplefew lines when he wrote his answer :-)
