Only Frederick gear I ever saw was at NGR, Nea Makri in Greece, 1966. Think
it was Baudot/Morse converter. Way before personal computers.. how slick was
that....punch a TTY tape and voila...out comes cw! ... Ha!

Clearly these are sleeveless jacks for telegraphy in warmer climates.
Does anyone know of a good reason why they might have been disfigured in
this way?

I have a small stock, perhaps 10 phone jacks of the same sort, but not
murdered and
mostly with very simple contact arrangements. One or two are full-featured
like the
ones someone murdered before leaving them in your pile.

I suppose those 14 could be married with the jacks I have to make more
interesting
jacks. I don't imagine that I need any phone jacks at this time, but if
someone needs
them and wants to perform a marriage, I can provide. I have no clue where I
got them.

Lots of interesting machines in this warehouse - there is a big "Buy It

consider selling individual items.

I have actually contacted this seller as I have family in Astoria and could
pickup immediately. He wants high prices, but he has a lot of nice stuff.
Hopefully someone can get something going as I was unable to make any
headway.

This stuff was listed back in May and some of the military gear has
evidently been sold, but it looks like none of the Teletype gear has moved.
Maybe time will bring some sense of reality to the seller.
Here is some background info from W1NZR
" It is the estate of Dave Ross, actually in SW Washington. He passed away
6 or so years ago, left his estate to a local friend, Brian Berkelund, who
passed away abt 3 yrs ago and his family fought over it.
Dave was a leading accumulationist and the pictured building was nearly
full of radio treasures. Obviously, he liked TTY"

I acquired a batch of interesting Frederick gear recently, but without
manuals - any info or documentation at all would be GREATLY appreciated.

The basic functions of each of these is fairly evident, but some of the
connections are mysterious, and troubleshooting will be difficult!

I have looked at it. If anyone needs help in shipping I may be available.
Here are more photos of the estate.

I posted this in March and got no interest. Now the new owner of the
property is trying to sell the stuff himself.

Just for fun, I participated in the JARTS RTTY contest this past weekend
using the N1MM logger program. I have some interesting factoids:
I made 160 QSOs with operating time as allowed (not really a whole lot of
time) - 38 states, 5 Canada provinces, 10 other countries. Propagation was
pretty good. Most of the time, if a signal was strong enough to print I made
a good QSO. A lot of signals were lower than 10dB SNR and unprintable.
(MMTTY RTTY engine, Flex 6400M, Elecraft KPA500 running about 400 watts,
NVIS G5RV.)
The contest exchange was operator age, so I did some counting. The operators
were mostly of our age group:
Age Number
80s 13
70s 51
60s 53
50s 31
40s 7
30s 1
Nobody below 30.
Hhmmm?.
73,
Bill

The box of 50 has been taken.
There's still a dozen or so loose ones,

Hi Gang:
Just a friendly reminder:
Hello to all you ghosts and goblins:
Time to warm up the oil and grease and get that well known odor perking thru
the house.
On Saturday, Oct. 24th, at 1400 EDST I will be sending the annual Halloween
pictures for your enjoyment and the amazement of kids of all ages.
Also suitable for framing. :-)
There will be both overstrike and plain text ones.
(Overstrike notification for Nick.)
This year will be a little different as there will be a short pause (2-3
minutes) between each one to correct any problems that may occur on your
end.
Testing will begin approximately at 1345 EDST.
As usual it will be on the ITTY AUTOSTART channel with the following URL:
Hope to see you there.
Stay safe.

I was thinking about asking what model is easiest to work on, so how does a
person know what the right way for the parts to turn is if the machine
doesn't work initially? Is it in one of the manuals?

I was thinking about asking what model is easiest to work on, so how does a
person know what the right way for the parts to turn is if the machine
doesn't work initially? Is it in one of the manuals?
