    For the history of the elastic stop nut. ESNA seems to stand 
for Elastic Stop Nut of America
    There are other kinds of nuts with built in locking means 
such as the nuts with attached toothed washers. See:
<https://www.mcmaster.com/self-locking-hex-nuts/>
   for many examples.
    Acorn nuts are also called cap nuts. They are protective and 
also decorative.
    There are also machine screws with lock washers permanently 
attached under the flange. I don't know what these are called. 
They can be handy where screws must be placed in locations with 
difficult access.
