Shortly after I sent the last message, I realized that I used the wrong name for that
style of nut.  It is  NOT  an  ACORN  nut, but I think they are called, 'Fiber Lock
Nuts'.

An ACORN nut is similarly shaped to an acorn, and it is 'dead ended' so that a screw
or bolt cannot extend through it.  Not certain where they are used, but possibly on
the bare end of a screw or bolt to prevent physical damage to the end threads of the
screw or bolt.  As a locking device, the length of the screw would be quite critical.

I will hopefully find some of each and provide a photo sometime later, unless someone
beats me to it.
