Yes the NCIC was what the “teletype” I referenced was connected to at the PD I dispatched for. Thanks for jogging my memory Wayne.

In the late 1970's I had three 35's on my route to service. Two were at Beech Aircraft in the comm center (an old school building). Both were TWX's. One RO to receive and the other an ASR for sending. They also had two Telex machines, one 28 RO and one 28 ASR, same setup. Around the plant there were numerous desk fax machines that would send and receive messages thru the comm center.

The other location (finally) was at a police station, either Wichita Police, Sheriff or State Police, cant remember which. Maybe all 3. Lots of security at the building. It was NCIC service (National Crime Information Center?). The 35 ASR had all the bells and whistles and I used to service it with great care as it was quite intricate compared to a 28 and hard wired to the system. Had to get the Wire Chief to block the connection to the network while I did my work.

Enuf history for today I guess.
