Interesting!  I wonder why they developed their own answerback unit;
perhaps it predated the unit in my TWX machine?  Or perhaps the
Western Electric answerback unit didn't provide some functionality
that they needed?  I know its message is rather short, limited by the
number of code blades in the answerback drum; I don't remember for
sure, but I think it's 19 or 21 charcters.
