Hey all,

I anticipate within the next few weeks, the National Weather Service Teletype software I’ve been working on with a software engineer over the past half of year, will be ready to be shared (I mentioned this software a few months ago, but ran in to a big bug and realized that it wasn’t ready for primetime).  The software works on a Raspberry Pi using Python and a Volpe v2 board (with or without a power relay)… it scrapes the NWS API service every 3.7 seconds for bulletins and will print them as received.  From experience, the bulletin is delayed from actual issuance by one or two minutes, which is not bad.  You can monitor any county or state with it and will only print a new bulletin once, saving paper.  The software also has a nice warning bell feature to it… 10 bells for a warning, 5 bells for a watch and 4 bells for an advisories/anything else.  I’m going to find a website to upload the software/scripts to, once it’s complete.  I have to say though, the stuff is pretty darn cool ;D !  Donations are welcome once the software is out - due to the out-of-pocket costs for building the code - but not required.

On a operate note, the Volpe board project that I’ve been working on for a while now - boards that people have paid for and have requested, are currently at the computer store being made and I hope to have them mailed out to everyone within the next month or so.  Please stay tuned to a future timeline as they are being made right now.
