I got email this morning from Tom Hanagan who is restoring the weather
office on board the USS Hornet at Alameda CA. He is looking for some
weather reports to display.
(note: this might be a great opportunity for someone to restore some of
their teletype gear to working condition.)

Below is his description of the report for which he is looking. I *think*
these might be shown briefly near the beginning (00:58 to 01:08) of this
film

(side note - this is worth watching if for nothing else to see 28KSR
machines mounted on the bulkheads)

Tom Says:
===================
What I'm in dire need of, though, is a tty sheet of coded weather report
used in plotting maps. These were sent at 6 hourly intervals, typically
from a fleet weather central like Norfolk, Guam, or Rota, and is basically
a line listing of stations with a coded weather report, usually 5-8 five
digit code sequences preceded by the station identifier. These fairly long
(12"-24" length) transmissions were sent out to the fleet, and we plotted
the maps from them.

Contact Tom at tomhanagan46 at gmail.com
but please keep me in the loop as I'd like to learn more and am a fiend for
anything related to Navy teletypes.....
Cheers,
Nick England K4NYW
