Hi Chuck,
I know there are a lot of vintage BBS's out there, but as far as I know they have all converted to telnet. Here is a good source:

So if your 707 has serial capability as well, you could get a device like this
https://www.cbmstuff.com/proddetail.php?prod=WiModem232
which is a "WiFi modem" and connect the 707 to the Internet, then telnet to a BBS.
I picked up the Panasonic version of the HP Silent a while back and it has a built-in modem plus a standard 9-pin serial port.
If I remember correctly, some of the Silents were the same way, but I think they had a proprietary serial port/cable.
