Greetings Greenkeyers --
Has anyone tried to use a Solid State Relay (SSR) such as that shown below
to control a TTY motor?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1Pcs-Solid-State-Relay-SSR-40DA-SSR-25DA-3-32VDC-TO-24-380VAC-New/312717019695
I'm using two of these solid state relays on dehumidifiers in my basement,
so that the safety switch in the condensate pump can interrupt the AC power
to the dehumidifier if the pump can't pump. The SSR's electronic
"contacts" have the equivalent of two diode drops in series with them, so
that at 1 ampere of AC current passing through the relay contacts will
dissipate about 1.5 watts. I have my humidifier SSRs mounted on a small
heatsink but I think it's overkill for that application.
But I'm wondering if SSRs, in general, would be suitable for a TTY motor.
The alternative for me is an old school mechanical contact relay, in
particular:

Please let me know what you think about using an SSR for a TTY motor.
thanks,
Paul, ad7i
