[GreenKeys] Hall ST-8000 and driving / switching a loop?

The ST-8000 and the ST-8000A cannot key a HV loop directly. A HAL LP-1210 was one way to get the necessary interface. LP-1210 manuals are online at Nick’s pages:

Nick is correct, the LP-1210 has keying converters and loop supplies. There are ten separate channels so it handles up to ten separate loops. HAL sold the last few units on eBay a couple of years ago. Mine was $25 plus shipping. There were no other bids. It was NOS but still was checked out by the factory and came with manuals and spare boards, even though it is built for 100,000 hours between failures. Thanks again, good people at HAL!

There are (or were) some simple circuits online for building your own interface with opto-isolators and keying transistors. I’ll post links if I can find them.

It might work to take RS-232 out of the ST-8000 and feed it into something like an ST-5000 which has RS-232 input and also can key a loop. Haven’t tried that, though.
