[GreenKeys] How did you acquire your Teletypes?

Bill has been passing them along and creating still more TTY addicts!

When I got interested in Navy radio, Bill said "you really need a teletype
in your collection" and gave me a skintight 28KSR - I can't remember
whether the transaction was that straightforward or he just sneaked it into
the van when my back was turned. It just took a little bit of cleaning and
ran great.
I swore it was the only teletype I'd ever need or want.

Then a little later, Bill says "You really need some paper tape capability"
so on the next trip to Cincinnati a 28ASR went into the van. That machine
required a complete renovation and I surprised myself by really enjoying
the process and getting intrigued at how they worked. These machines are
such marvels of engineering!

Yeah, Bill's just like that guy that hangs around the playground with "free
samples".

And it turns out that there are other generous folks like Bill here on
Greenkeys. Once people learned about my enthusiasm/obsession, various model
28 machines started showing up - for the cost of shipping or gas for
travel, ...and I kept on getting deeper and deeper into trouble, smiling
all the way.

And in the greenkeys spirit, I have enjoyed getting others into trouble too
- helping rescue and passing along 6 or 7 machines by now. Let me know if
you're near NC and interested in Model 28s.

I think the only machines I actually have had to purchase are some "newer"
oddballs via eBay (UGC-136, Model 42, etc.). I'm sure if I wanted a M32 or
M33 it would require real money, but luckily I'm immune to anything not
painted Navy gray....

Cheers,
