The Dovetron MPC terminal units could be equipped with an auto start module.  I have such a one and the schematics for it.  I am in the process of having the diagrams scanned and then will do some needed enhancements.

I doubt that the Dovetron autostart circuit is “simple” but it might help folks in designing one.
