And the one in the craigslist picture has the normal M33 platen knob, so
no local LF button would be needed.

That sounds plausible to me.  I didn't know those models ever got made -
I had left the company by the time M37 and M38 were in production and
didn't keep up with what they were offering.  Tho when I worked for UCSC
we did buy a M38 KSR, the wide carriage model.  We also bought one of
the rare Inktronic KSR sets.

It was a 150 wpm heavy duty printer and yes used a type box.  But very
different printer mechanism than the 28/35.  Styling of the cabinetry
was similar however to the M38s in the picture.
