Hello everyone.
Ever since I found out that teletypes existed, I have always admired them.
I have loved typewriters and vintage computers for a long time, and have
used them for years. When I saw my first teletype, I thought the heavens
had aligned for my perfect machine!
Now that I am looking to acquire one for myself, a kind soul on Reddit
pointed me to this mailing list. I am really not picky about the model, and
I only have a few requirements. Apologies if I am using odd terminology or
phrasing, I am new to this whole scene. :)
I need a machine that can be connected to a modern PC (preferably ASCII
rather than BAUDOT), either through a current loop converter, or directly
via RS-232. I also need a machine that already functions, as I am not
experienced with their repair. I don't need a modem or a paper tape punch
on the machine, but it's fine if they are there. I have experience with
modems.
Some other things that would be nice, but not required. I would prefer a
small(er) model, although I realize that none of them are small, and I
would rather not have to make conversions to RS-232. If this does not apply
to your machine, that's fine, I'm not picky. :)
I am located in Rockledge, FL, and if you do not want to ship (I get that),
I can do local pickup.
I hope I'm not being unrealistic! Please let me know if you have a machine
you are looking to get rid of, or if you know of someone that is looking to
get rid of one.
Thank you,
Chris
