[GreenKeys] Tell me about TTY Line Length

Model 28s can have a wider line. Just a matter of loosening something, pulling the carriage or typebox then tightening
that same thing. I had a friend who could bet up to 25 points of range at 100 WPM with an 80 character line and not
have any overstrikes or other mistakes. This was assuming the station sending was using CR CR LF LTRS at the
end of each line. At 60 WPM the LTRS could be left off the end of line sequence.
This result also assumes no heavy wear on some 'key components'.
68 characters is probably correct, and if the machine can handle 72 characters, this gives the 'typist' some leeway about
formatting.
As for the 15 printer I don't know the maximums. I owned both a 15 and a 19, but remember very little about them.
They both did what they should and gave me great service. Never had to touch any adjustments.
Good luck!

Subject: [GreenKeys] Tell me about TTY Line Length
Greetings --
In testing my model 15 and 28RO, it looks like both will print 72 characters per line. But buried deep in my brain, from some long forgotten place, I seem to recall that the max TTY line length was 68 characters.
So my question for my fellow TTY enthusiasts is, when preparing text for transmission by TTY, what's the recommended line length to use, and why?
