[GreenKeys] Model 28 signal lines

Barrym,

That’s a some what loaded question as pertains to the wiring. Somewhere in the #8 to #20 range is the numbers of which terminals are used for the keyboard (signal line out) and selector magnets (signal line in), but it all depends on how many modifications have been done to the wiring over the life of the machine, And in a “normal” machine (and what is that anyway) most of the wiring from terminal block C (the terminals across the back) wind up going through the LESU (that thing behind the base) before getting to the keyboard or typing unit. So there is no one answer that fits all.

I have a diagram of how I re-did the wiring on a couple of my KSR’s but they won’t match what your machine has except for maybe the C terminal block. I’ll see if I can dig it up, but it’ll probably be a day or two.

Subject: [GreenKeys] Model 28 signal lines

I took a look through the theory & operation manual for the Teletype Model 28 KSR (floor standing model), but I am still confused on where the signal lines in and out are located. I do see the 2 terminal strips at the back of the cabinet with labels from 1-20 and 21-40.

I have a few questions

1. which terminals are for the signal lines in?

2. which terminals are for the signal lines out?

3. how do I determine that the unit is still set to use 60ma loop?

4. will 48v @ 60ma be sufficient to drive the model 28 KSR?

As you can see, I am not familiar with Teletypes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
