Folks,

 

Well I have spent the last ten days trying to get my Creed 6S reader to
work. I have prodded the thing with feeler gauges, tweaked the "pecker" that
selects "mark" or "space", adjusted the contact spacing and checked the
speed on a strobe.

It worked OK when turned over by hand, but when connected to the printer
basically random garbage.  Any way I ordered one of these:-

stuck a bit of reflective tape on the governor plate, and set it to the
required RPM, and was flabbergasted when perfect copy appeared on the
printer...

.. just wish I had ordered one sooner...
