[GreenKeys] Another button question

Not sure about the motor stop function on some or all keyboards that will stop all motors on the machines on the line.
A FIGS H would stop the motors on any machines that had the mechanism to respond to a FIG H to stop the motor. Kleinschmidt equipment had this feature but most of the ones I worked on had this mechanism disabled to prevent garble from turning the motor off. I’m not sure if Teletype models even had the feature. The break key on Teletype keyboards was the key that has been mentioned, while Kleinschmidt equipment had a momentary switch on the right side of the keyboard right next to a keyboard lock switch that shorted the keyboard contacts.

>From reading the Teletype manuals, I gather the following. (I add that caveat because I've yet to actually use this function myself.) There exists on some (all?) Teletype keyboards a motor stop function that when sent over the line will turn off all machines' motors on that line. Pressing the BREAK key is a way to reverse the motor stop function, returning the machines to running.

Hi again,
Now that I know what the "HERE IS" key is for, there is another read button on my machine that I am wondering about. It is labeled simply as "BREAK". What is this for?
Thank you again,
I am learning and relearning so many new things lately!
Best,
Joe
