Hey Tony - yep it is a shame this kind of stuff still gets scrapped, especially nowawdays. It may not be glamorous as other archeological finds, but I can tell you - once someone gets hooked, that's it!
As this gear was from a key period during the evolution of our modern technology, I'd say that not only is the preservation of these archeological pieces important.... but getting these machines chattering away in front of young kids is vital so they can understand where we came from 😊
Cheers!
Andy

GM OMs;
It is amazing what a short span of time can do.
Back in the late '60's I got my first model 15 from a guy who carried used military gear. It cost me $75.oo which would be around $800.oo by today's standards.
Considering that I was making $1.15/hr as kitchen help in a restaurant, that was A LOT OF MONEY!!!
Finding those things took a lot of work.
Now, they just wind-up in the scrap heap.
Other than (us?) the old stuff isn't worth anything to anyone.
If I had a place to store the stuff, I'd be happy to help out - but I have a tiny one-car garage and I couldn't fit a 28-ASR no matter how I stored it.
