This intrigues me also.
Looking at a time line of my connection with Chicago sources narrows
things down from my perspective. I acquired an FRXD geared at 75wpm in
the original factory crate around 1960. I'd take that as an indication
that Illinois Bell or Teletype was clearing out old inventory (or it
fell off the back of a truck). This was from Ray Morrison, so I doubt
the latter. I made enough trips from Madison to Chicago from '60 to '64
to have a 15 KSR and a 19 plus the FRXD. (19 table trucked in from I
don't remember where) Never heard mention of the LRXD. ('64 to '67 was
my Kleinschmidt period courtesy US Army) '67 to '70 I was dealing with
Bert now and collected a fleet of 28 gear. One of the items was 80% of
an RT set.
So I'm thinking the LRXD was limited in production run? I don't recall
seeing one in Bert's attic (doesn't mean he didn't have one). And where
are the bulletins or BSP references hiding?
Was this the original reason for making the LAXD?
Always regret not spending more time visiting with Bert, but the mission
was always to make the round trip in one day. When you are in your
twenties you always think there's plenty of time later.
About half way down the page Jim mentions the LRXD:

The only result returned by Duck Duck.
