I'm not at all familiar with the 26, but I'd be cautious about getting any liquid in the power or break switches. Also I wonder how the insulation on the wiring will react to some of the different cleaning solutions.

My technique so far has been, q-tips, stiff artist's brushes and light synthetic motor oil. I haven't yet attacked severe rust, no ideas there, but there are many suggestions going back through the archives of green keys.

With help from Zach I was able to understand how to take the typing unit off the keyboard, now I need to know if I can just put the entire keyboard in a solution of cleaner to soak for awhile.... what to protect? I would guess with the typing unit the selector magnets would be the only thing needing protection but will hold off all of these actions until I hear from some of you guys as to how to proceed. Thanks for the help and I will post my progress as I attempt to get this old girl up and running again!
