Thanks John, great information to have!

I'm still puzzled as why there was more than one "standard."

Especially the 7.00. And the 7.42 & 7.50 are so close (0.08") why bother?

Hi Steve,

For some reason Teletype documentation doesn't tell us the number of teeth
on the 3 different keyboard/gear spindle. (that I've been able to
find.)

I got that information from a chart that is part of this article:
http://navy-radio.com/manuals/tty/Military_M28_Gears.pdf

Bear in mind that the gears on the tying unit change for 7.00 and 7.50 vs.
the more standard 7.42.

I got into researching this when I found I couldn't swap typing units
between keyboards. Turned out one pair was 7.42 and the other a 7.00.

John, W9DDD
Ich habe dreimal abgeschnitten uns jetzt zu kurtz. (I cut it off 3 times and
it's still too short.)
