Thanks, that info helps. Regarding parity vs. non-parity:
My understanding is the non-parity keyboard is simpler in that the 8th level pulse is always marking. This is easy to observe in operation. So some characters have an even number of marking pulses and some have an odd number.
Looking at the LH side of the keyboard under the cover there is what's called an 'auxiliary contact mechanism' the parity keyboard has, that the non-parity keyboard lacks. That mechanism is the source of the parity keyboard's ability to change the 8th level into marking or spacing dependent on the key pressed. So for the parity keyboard, that mechanism ensures there is an even number of marking pulses for every character - regardless of the character pressed.
