Jim are you saying that this mod actually keeps the reperf from even punching a blank?  I can see that could be very useful if the loop did go open.  Saving a lot of tape possibly.  But I have a demo that punches eyeball characters in a tape producing a banner similar to what you see on LED matrix boards.  I use the blanks as spaces in my messages.  Luckily none of my reperfs have that mod.
