Gents, 

  

My Dad Stewart passed away a week ago Tuesday. He was 88. He was the last family member to work at Kleinschmidt Labs / SCM Kleinschmidt. He left KL in 1968. He is the grandson of E E. Kleinschmidt. Making me and my brothers great grandsons.

  

He did significant mechanical design work on the commercial mobile printer known as the Telescripter. It was a technical success and a market failure. Motorola made a similar printer and locked uo the public safety market. Railroads were also potential users. Its claim to fame is a photo of Walter Cronkite reading a Telescripter  printout  during the 1968 election. There are details of its deployment in the Kleinschmidt newsletters.

  

We have a memorial service scheduled for next Tuesday the 20th in Arlington Heights, IL.
