Paul:

I am the last resort offerer, so I hope you can find your way to
rescuing these two machines. I already have a nice working Model 19
already,, but these with reperf, are well worth savings.

With respect to your storage concerns; Two suggestions:

(1) Before storage, take the covers off, and soak the mechanisms with
(several cans) REM oil:

&qid=1541602788&sr=8-5&keywords=rem-oil

I get mine locally at Wallyword, Gun Department.

(2) If you have access to compressed air, blow the worst of the dust
off the outside, at least. Then store, covered with moving blankets, such as
these from Harbor Freight:

https://www.harborfreight.com/72-in-x-80-in-moving-blanket-69505.html

Even better, if you can lift a bit , wrap with moving blankets.

These two actions should keep the units from degrading further, until some
local who wants them sticks his hand in the air. Would not do any harm to
remind the group every quarter that they are available. Or possibly you and
I meet at Berryville, next fall (For one).

Now, to make room: Who wants a virtually new condition Model 19. Local
pickup near the Head Waters of the Potomac River

While I am very local and would like to rescue these items, they’d have to
go into an unheated garage, possibly indefinitely.

We get humid summers here and I can’t but expect that those conditions would
not be good for them.

Do other folks here keep/restore/operate their equipment under such
conditions?

I’ve always assumed a dry, heated, basement or accessory building was a key
pre-condition to entering into custodial activities.

And then lots of TLC

Am I incorrect in the former assumption? The latter clearly goes with the
territory

(Perhaps Paul would put me in touch with “another Greenkeys member” to see
what he’s thinking.)

I‘ve been in contact with another Greenkeys member who, worst case, will
make sure they are not scrapped and he has already made this known to
Richard.

Still hoping somebody “local“ wants them...
