    Ed's Red is interesting. One of the recommended penetrating 
oils for loosening rusted parts is a mixture of Dextron III ATF 
and Acetone or Kerosene. It is supposed to be more effective than 
any commercially made up material. It would be interesting to see 
if this stuff is even better. Its also possible it might work 
well as a contact cleaner.
    One of the cleaners tested in the ancient Boonton Radio tests 
was Lanolin. It was less effective than either synthetic silicon 
grease (Lubriplate) or Vaseline. However it was tried alone. 
There have been a number of guesses as to what Caig uses in 
Deoxit or the old Contactine but the addition of some sort of 
agent like phosphoric acid to Ed's Red might be an interesting 
experiment.
