   Old tech is still quite viable today, and better for some occasions.
In this case, it also provides privacy for people in challenging
emotional times because unless the line is tapped, the two parties and
the operator are the only ones who can hear the conversation.  Was there
ever any kind of test equipment to alert a switchboard operator if a
tactical phone line had been tapped?
