     I believe all of the pix on Shorpy are from the Library of 
Congress and are available from them via the web. The pix on 
Shorpy have been doctored somewhat with something like Photoshop 
to correct for faded colors, etc, however you can do the same 
thing with any of the image editors available such as Gimp, a 
freeware program similar in effect to Photoshop. LOC also has a 
good search engine but is a very large site so requires some 
practice to navigate.
     LOC has a very large collection of Kodachrome transparencies 
which, for the most part, have survived with their original quality.
     There is nothing wrong with Shorpy but there is a great deal 
more at the original source.
