GreenKeyers - - -

It is time to let all know of some of the goings-on at W7TTY...

Paul Heller, the new Honcho of ITTY, was here a couple of weekends ago
and he got an idea of the the size of this project.

The Bulk of the older hardware tables (1 model 12, 4 or 5 model 14/15
and 26) has been moved to a store room in Sequim.

There are two 28 KSR cabinets with keyboards and typing units, and two
28 ASR cabinets, with all hardware but some messed-up electrics that I
just don't want to deal with.

Some of the paper is there as well.

The teletype parts rack (both sides filled with bin boxes of parts in
part number order) has been moved, as well as five boxes of teletype
parts, the largest being mod 28 stuff, and some 15 parts are over there
as well.

There are about 200 new ribbons, most in manufacturers' boxes, some
boxes of AP and UPI ribbons are there as well.

There are several 15 typing units, bases for same, several 14 reperfs,
quite a few 28 typing units and keyboards, and some misc stuff.

There are many 28 Perforator/reperf units for both ASRs and stand alone
TD's, some usable, others parts units. One or two complete Under-Dome
reperfs.

There are a few LESUs available, one a rare unit with three Vacuum-Tube
loop keyers, one with 3 solid-state loop keyers, and a couple of parts
units.

Several 28 TD bases, some with covers and motors.

There about 17 to 20 mod 28 motors, some are 1/12-hp and some are 1/20
HP. There are also four model 15 motors.

There is a box with 6 3-speed transmissions, three of the cast frame and
3 of the stamped beer-can frame. Haven't poked through that box yet, and
not sure of what all parts are there.

There is about 2-1/2 cubic feet of assorted gears, some new in packages
and some just "there". Those will be sorted shortly.

There are three or four model 26's and two 26 tables as well, with one
26 being on its table, with all paper and crank hardware, un-cracked
glass, and no dings.

There is a LOT of paper, in cases and free-standing rolls, and also a
considerable pile of 11/16" tape, in boxes of ten rolls and in cases of
4 boxes per case.

I have no idea of how many teletype manuals there are; an estimate of
the stack if piled up would be about 7 or so feet.

Paul and I have come to the agreement that the storage fees should be
covered in part by whatever we can collect from the disposal of the
machinery and paper.

I am saving a couple of machines for myself, but the bulk of it must go.

Ultimately the parts will end up in Denver, which is reasonably central
to the east coast folk.

Being in the northwestern-most county of the U.S. makes for some
considerable shipping costs to the rest of the world.

I know that in the past one or two hardy people hauled trailer loads of
things all over the country. Don't know if that is viable or not.

If you have an interest in any of the machinery or parts, have the part
numbers available if possible and give me a call.

Electronics wise I am making available an ST-8000A which has the W7TTY
mod kit in it, which eliminates all of the high priced connectors, and
makes the audio accessible through 4 1/8" phone jacks.

It has a loop keyer and sniffer accessible via a 1/4" phone jack, and
lastly the RS-232 stuff is accessible via a 6-pin Japanese mic connector
on the chassis and a dongle which mates up to the mic connector on the
adapter and an RS-232 9-pin DA-9 male on the other.

I Built ten or eleven of the mod kits and they all tested perfect on
power-up.

I paid about $300 for each of the ST-8000A's, and figured the mod kits
were worth about 100 bucks each, as they were precisely made to fit
right on to the inside of the rear panel and used the 12 4-40 connector
mounting holes to mount the adapter kit.

Each kit was actually mounted on an ST-8000A to make sure all of the
holes were accurate and no filing or enlargements needed for anything.
Wiring plugged right on to the original board connectors, and only a
single red wire had to be soldered to the output of the regulator for
the 8000's 5-volt supply. All boards/kits worked right off the bat.

Paul Heller is getting two of the above modified ST-8000A units for use
at the new ITTY Complex in Denver.

I will let the last one go for 350 dollars plus shipping.

Should anyone need any tty parts send the part numbers and we'll try and
get them off to you.

One BIG find was a total of 106 BRAND NEW IN THEIR PACKAGES 153440
Universal Function Bars, for the 28 Function (Stunt) Box.

Each interested party will be allowed six to eight 153440's depending on
what the project is. Paul and I will agree on a price per unit and the
funds will go to the storage and possible haulage of this mass of stuff
to some location outside of Sequim.

I can be reached via land line at 360-683-3235.

Cell is 360-775-1128.

Should anything be left after a few months it is going to the dump.

Health-wise I have the diabetes pretty well in control, but I have to be
diligent in watching the blood sugar levels. The Vets Administration is
really helpful and concerned. And my pharmacy provider has a PhD in
pharmacy, and is a ham!!!

If such is possible I wish each of you GreenKeyers a delightful winter
season and snow and such in reasonable amounts. We had about three
inches over the weekend, and the average daily temp was about 30
degrees, so it didn't melt away, but sublimed and just disappeared.

73,

George - W7TTY
