Hi all -

I too am having this problem and I am sure others are also.

The old url comes up as 403 page forbidden:

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/fronts/HOME?SITE=MELEE&SECTION=HOME

I found a new url to use, but when I put it in the PL file it doesn't seem to work either.

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/fronts/HOME?SITE=WNYC&SECTION=HOME

Perhaps AP is blocking something??

Perhaps someone could contact Bill Buzbee?  Maybe he could look at it or re-do the program?

If you noticed that was one of the last items that were working.

Stock quotes, WX, Today in History, E-mail Etc.

This has bee the go-to program for museums such as AWA, Larry Tigues radio station in New Jersey and others.

FYI, HM was developed in 2001!!

73,

For the past 5-10 years, the AWA Museum has been entertaining our visitors by using the HeavyMetal v2.5 program to print out the Associated Press' Top Stories on a M15.  That service seems to have stopped in the past week or so. Have others noticed this? I realize that the program is very dependent on the AP's "Top Stories" URL and if they change anything, you loose access. Bill Buzbee's v2.5 README.txt file (31 Jul 08) explains the problem & how to find new URLs, but that doesn't seem to work anymore. Does anyone know of a URL that will work for news? Something that can be put in the "Custom" Menu?  Or will it need processing by the program and thus needed to be changed in the Perl script and recompiled? AP Top Stories is now at https://apnews.com.  Is there a better way to get this page as a text file without all the problems we have had with Bill's method? (I used Fortran in college, but I'm more of a hardware type.) I am still using Heavy Metal 2.5 because I could never get V3.0 to work and v2.5 was still working OK for me.  Is V3.0 any better for changing URLs or being updated for these changes?
