FWIW Nylon lasts longer and prints sharper but does not hold as much
ink, cotton prints darker but not quite as sharp. By lasting I mean
mechanically. I am not sure Nylon is available in dark because it won't
hold a lot of ink. I use dark cotton ribbons from Baco in both my old
Underwood typewriters. At one time silk ribbons were available but have
been supplanted by Nylon.
I think Baco is also a mom and pop operation. They do not have a
web site but you can look them up on Google.
