THANKS for the tips Nick!
First, I would like to state some mistakes I made removing
the punch block assembly. I did NOT document where any of
the springs were attached and I did not take any pictures
of the work in progress! The reperfs I have are spring
retracted punch pins and fully perforated.
Fortunately, I have two reperfs (one that is for parts, and
the other "working" with the broken punch pin). During the
process of removing the punch block from the "parts" reperf,
I broke the springs and the bottom of the punch block (bull
in the china shop syndrome).
Referring to 573-118-800TC, I removed the springs attached to
156172 (did not document where they went!), removed screws
152893 (both sides of the punch block), removed 194993 and
156012. Slid the punch block out of the reperf. Removed the
two screws on the top of the punch block (mine were "Loctite",
so took some doing to get the screws out). Removed the two
halves of the top of the punch block (where the tape feeds
through). Removed TWO 119648's from 156104 and 153267 as I
slid 156104 out the side of the punch block. 156172 and
170803 were removed. Next step was to replace the broken
punch pin. Reassembly is next and make sure the indents of
the punch pins face to the right (assists with the alignment
of 170803, see the drawing for details). Install 156172 and
then install 170803 with 153267, 156104, and TWO 119648. Make
sure the pins are aligned correctly and reinstall the spring
on the third from the right punch pin (as shown in the drawing).
Install the bottom half of the punch block where the tape feeds
through. I used one screw to hold the bottom half in place
while installing 156012 & 194993 (as associated parts). Removed
the tempy screw and installed the top half of the punch block.
Made sure the pins move freely and installed the punch block
into the reperf. Now I have the dilemma of where do the springs
go! As an aside, I had the punch block apart and together several
times and the above steps allowed me to assemble the punch block
in about twenty minutes. An additional note is to hold the spring
down while installing the bottom half of the punch block where the
tape feeds through. Also, the "teeth" of 170803 go into the indents
of the punch pins.
Hope this makes sense!
