In recent weeks I have been going through a number of pieces of M28 gear
that have been sitting for quite a while. In many cases the AC line cord
insulation inside the unit (or power connector) has turned very brittle
from age/heat/oil, meaning bare wires are showing.
So don''t neglect to put on a new AC line cord whenever you are
resurrecting a piece of gear. I get #18 3-wire computer cords at hamfests
for 25-50 cents each and cut off the IEC end.
Also remember:
- hot lead (black or brown) to the switch/fuse terminal
- neutral lead (white or blue) to the common AC terminal
- ground lead (green or green/yellow) to the chassis
Yours in practicing safe teletypery,
