[GreenKeys] 28 reperf with auto letters tape feedout - disable?

Is there a convenient way to disable automatic letters tape feedout on a 28
reperf? I'd like to disable this function, but not remove parts - so if I
change my mind I can enable it again without hunting for the parts I am
sure to lose.

For those not familiar with this option, it uses a ratchet mechanism to
sense the line is idle for a short time (end of message) and then punches a
length of letters tape. It is intended for use where the reperf is used to
receive messages from a TD so there won't be any mid-message pauses. But
I'd like to use this reperf for creating message tapes, and I am
(pause....) a slow thinker (pause...) and a slow typist.
