If that wire end is the end buried under the coil turns you do need to be careful. If it's on top of the turns, you can sacrifice a small number of turns without noticeable effect, if it should be tricky to get it tinned.

Sometimes those very fine wire enamels will melt or burn away automatically as soon as you attempt to tin the end. When that has failed I have lightly scraped the such wires with the edge of an Xacto knife (razor blade should do, too) & then tinned. There may be better ways & perhaps someone will offer one.

Subject: [GreenKeys] Friden Translator 90 volt coil

I was attempting to clean up a sticky relay armature on a translator coil of my Friden SPD-V Flexowriter. While doing this either I pulled a coil lead out of a coil or it was ready to come out on it's own. Anyway this coil is now open and the translator doesn't work correctly with out it.

First I carefully removed the coil and then removed the outer covering of the coil. I found the broken end of the coil. Problem is it is very fine wire. What I need to so is clean the enamel off the wire to solder a lead back on. How should I do this without damaging the wire.

Second if this can not (or I can not) be done, the part number on the coil is F1055816R. Does anyone have a coil like this?

Here is a picture of what I have to work with. The broken end is sticking out of approx the middle of the coil. Any suggestions? Thanks
