[GreenKeys] Overview of the ITTY station in Arvada Colorado

Hi PJ,

I use DarkIce to encode the audio to mp3 format and I use Icecast2 to stream it. It took me a long time to figure out all the pieces and get it all working, with many failed trials. I also had to buy a USB sound device because the Raspberry PI has no audio input.

My ISP does not seem to have the limitations on what I do, but they do have limitations (caps) on bandwidth. I think if I were streaming hi quality audio to large numbers of users it might be a problem, but ITTY traffic is so small it flies below the radar. One way that I cut down on bandwidth is to encode the audio at a lower bit rate and encode it as mono rather than stereo.
