For ASCII, 300 baud is roughly 272 WPM.
750 WPM = 827 Baud, 1050 WPM = 1158 Baud and 2400 WPM = 2647 Baud.

Remember the progression of telephone modems?
110, 300, 1200, 2400, 9600, 34K and finally 56K Baud.

I have asymmetric DSL now, with an average Baud rate of 16.45 million Baud
download speed and 0.92 million Baud upload speed.
