I think that 32ASR and acoustic modem might have been used as a TTY for the Deaf. The piece of paper

taped to the machine had instructions that used Ham-type abbreviations (“GA”, “SK”, etc.).

I have seen a few of these 32 ASR's with UCC-5 electronic unit.  They were used on some early computers I believe.  

 

The UCC-5's were rare.  I had one here and gave it away quite a few years ago. 

The 32 could be easily made to be 60MA, half dux for RTTY if it had 60 WPM gears.  Just factory wire changes as described in the wiring diagram that comes with the UCC-5 or even the wiring diagram for a UCC-6.
