Removing the fan is easy. You need a long screwdriver to remove its
setscrew. The setscrew goes all the way through the shaft, in a threaded
hole - Teletype and GE didn't cut corners here. So it has to be
removed completely. Re-installation of the fan screw is best done with
a magnetized screwdriver.
Normal DC resistance for Model 14/15 Teletype motors is 4 ohms.
Check for infinite resistance between wires and frame. Also,
blow them out with compressed air.
I install a 3 amp slow-blow fuse on all my 14/2B machines. The
original 14 design lacks a fuse. I also run them from control
units that are equipped with a GFCI. I've had bad motors trip the
GFCI on two occasions.
