Yes, that's the one. Close contact with the board surface helps dissipate heat as well. no color bands on smd resistors though, but there are printed values on the larger ones.

Yeah, something like that. You can use whatever baud rate setting you want. You use the config setting commands on the board to set the speed you want it to communicate on the loop.
